Spring Awakening (September 25, 2014, Los Angeles, US)
Cast: Austin McKenzie, Sandra Mae Frank, Katie Boeck, Daniel Durant, Rustin Cole Sailors, Lauren Patten, Treshelle Edmond, Kathryn Gallagher, Ali Stroker, Amelia Hensley, Joseph Haro, Jimmy Bellinger, Joshua Castille, Daniel David Stewart, Miles Barbee, Sean Grandillo, Troy Kotsur, Daniel Marmion, Natacha Roi

Notes: The entire show is signed by the actors, and most of the show is also spoken/sung except for a short bit during latin class and the scene between Moritz and his father just before And Then There Were None. The staging, choreography, singing, and signing are all absolutely gorgeous, and this production gives a deeper meaning to the show’s message about parents communicating with their children; this is a must see for any fan of the show.

Notes: A perfect capture of Deaf West’s incredible production during it’s run at the Wallis Annenberg. One of the most moving, clever, and inspiring shows I’ve ever seen, this version of the show is not to be missed. This is perfectly captured with no obstructions, no washout, and just a few seconds of dropouts throughout the entire show, most of which happen between scenes. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. Overall Rating: A+
