May 2016
An American In Paris (April 11, 2015, Broadway)
Cast: Robert Fairchild, Leanne Cope, Veanne Cox, Jill Paice, Brandon Uranowitz, Max von Essen
Format: VOB
Notes: Very good HD video filmed from left mezzanine. Sometimes blocked at the bottom of the screen by a bar but it does not effect the action. 1 DVD, A-
The Book Of Mormon (17 May, 2014, Costa Mesa)
Cast: David Larsen, Cody Jamison Strand, Tallia Brinson (u/s), Pierce Cassedy, James Vincent Meredith, David Aron Damane, Christopher Shyer, Jeff Heimbrock (u/s)
Format: VOB+smalls
Notes: A fantastic capture of the second tour cast. David and Cody are strong leads with great voices and comedic timing. Tallia also does a great job; she has a strong belt and does an endearing rendition of Sal Tlay Ka Siti. This is a very nice capture with no obstruction or blackouts, and only a bit of washout in superwide shots of high-contrast scenes. The video is very steady and the sound is excellent as usual. It’s filmed in 16:9 with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups.
The Habit of Art (April 22, 2010, London, England)
Cast: Richard Griffiths, Alex Jennings, Tom Attwood, Laurence Belcher, Danny Burns, Martin Chamberlain, Philip Childs, John Heffernan, Frances de la Tour
Format: mkv
Notes: Multiple cameras Proshot of the new production at the National Theatre. Broadcast live in cinemas through a satellite feed and this was captured from that feed. Perfect 5.1 sound and HD video. The original 1080p Files are available.
If/Then (January 24, 2016 Tour, Idina’s Last) LIMITED TRADE
Idina Menzel, Trey Ellett (u/s), LaChanze, James Snyder, Daren A Herbert, Janine DiVita, Marc delaCruz, Kyra Faith, Corey Greenan, Cliffton Hall, Xavier Cano, Alicia Taylor Tomasko, Tyler McGee, English Bernhardt, DeeDee Magno Hall
Format: VOB+smalls
Notes: An emotional performance by the whole cast, particularly Idina. Her feelings overcome her during Always Starting Over and the Finale, leading to roaring cheers of support from the crowd. There is also a fantastic blooper during What If: Elizabeth’s phone rings and the phone is not in her pocket. Chaos ensues. A really fantastic capture with no obstruction, no washout, and just two quick dropouts in act one. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. A.
Matilda (December 31, 2015, Broadway) LIMITED TRADE
Cast: Mimi Ryder, Alison Case, Christopher Sieber, Rick Holmes, Lauralyn McClelland (u/s), Natalie Venetia Belcon, Clay Thompson, Phillips Spaeth, Brooklyn Nelson (u/s), Benjamin Harding, Jack Mullen, GiaNina Paolantonio, Ian Saraceni, Akira Golz, Talia Ryder, Cole Alex Edelstein, Geoff Packard, Michael Minarik, Jennifer Bowles, Colin Israel (u/s), Marisa Kennedy, Amanda LaMotte, Michaeljon Slinger, Travis Waldschmidt.
Format: VOB+smalls
Notes: A great capture of Mimi’s performance and the rest of the new cast on Broadway. Mimi has her own take on the role and gives a wonderful performance. A very nice capture overall, with a bit of obstruction and a few short blackouts. There are a couple heads and a railing that can be seen at the bottom of the screen, but they generally only block the actors’ feet. There are three blackouts: the first two minutes of act one, one minute during the first Wormwood scene, and one minute just before the spelling scene in act two. There are also a couple other very short dropouts. There is some occasional washout, especially in wider shots. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. A-
Pippin (November 16, 2014 mat)
Cast: Sasha Allen, Kyle Dean Massey, John Rubinstein, Lucie Arnaz, Kristine Reese, Sabrina Harper, Callan Bergmann, Lucas Schultz
Format: VOB+smalls
Notes: Captured after the tour’s first cast change. Kyle and Kristine are great together, and Sasha has settled into the role a bit more. An excellent capture with no blackouts, no obstruction, and very little washout. One of my best captures to date, and definitely the best capture of Pippin to date. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. A+
