Cannibal! The Musical (10/11, Wilmington, NC)
Format: VOB+smalls
Cannibal! The Musical is the true story of the only person convicted of cannibalism in America - Alferd Packer. The sole survivor of an ill-fated trip to the Colorado Territory, he tells his side of the harrowing tale to news reporter Polly Pry as he awaits his execution. And his story goes like this: While searching for gold and love in the Colorado Territory, he and his companions lost their way and resorted to unthinkable horrors, including toe-tapping songs! Originally written as a 3 minute student film by Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Park, and Book Of Mormon), they then adapted the story into a college stage musical before raising enough money to make a film, which was released in 1996. It’s interesting to note, that Trey Parker and Matt Stone give away the rights to stage this show to anyone who contacts them and asks. There are also rumors that they are working on bringing the show to Broadway. Presented by the Pineapple Shaped Lamps Company at the Brown Coat and Pub Theatre. Filmed using two camcorders. A.

Format: VOB
Notes: A nice capture of Paige’s Broadway run. Act one has a couple small heads that can occasionally be seen at the bottom of the screen, but they don’t affect the action. Act two has no obstruction, but there is one blackout for about one minute during The Pursuit. There are also a couple quick dropouts in each act. Format: VOB+smalls
Notes: She’s lovely in the role, but has a very different voice than Laura or Paige. Many of the melodies were changed to fit her voice. Nene is also fantastic and gets a lot of laughs. A very nicely captured video; there are a few heads at the bottom of the screen during act one, but they are easily worked around so they rarely affect the action. Act two has no obstruction. There are also a couple quick dropouts in each act, but no major blackouts. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Format: VOB+smalls
Notes: A great capture of this hilarious parody musical. No Disney princess is safe from mocking, and no princess is who you thought they were; Cinderella is a ditz, Belle is certifiable, Mulan is a lesbian, Ariel is a drunk, and much much more. The entire cast is fantastic, but Lulu is the standout with her amazing belt. This is a good capture overall with no washout and only minor obstruction, but there are a few blackouts. Four of the first five minutes are blacked out, there is a three minute blackout for the audience participation during Not V’one Red Cent, a six minute blackout during Perfect, and the last two minutes of the final song are blacked out. There is also one head that blocks a small part of the front/center part of the stage, but it only ever blocks the actors feet/legs. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is very good overall, but there is more shuffling and static than usual; all of the dialogue and songs are listenable. Includes playbill scans.

The cast is fantastic, giving great performances all around. This is a nice capture with no washout, no blackouts, and very minor obstruction. There are a couple heads that can be seen at the bottom of the screen, but they never affect the action. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is very good overall, but there is more shuffling and static than usual; all of the dialogue is listenable. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

Format: VOB+smalls
Notes: A lovely production of this seldom performed Rogers-Sondheim gem. The staging is simple but effective, and the cast is solid. Emily is absolutely wonderful and the rest of the cast is charming as well. The score sounds beautiful played on a single upright piano. A great capture overall. There a couple quick dropouts and several small heads across the bottom of the screen, but no major blackouts or obstruction. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound has a bit more shuffling noise than usual, but is still very good. Includes curtain call and playbill scan.

Cannibal! The Musical (10/11, Wilmington, NC)
Format: VOB+smalls
Cannibal! The Musical is the true story of the only person convicted of cannibalism in America - Alferd Packer. A.

Includes curtain call, encore, and playbill scans.

Disenchanted! (December 28 2014, New York)
Cast: Snow White: Michelle Knight, Cinderella: Becky Gulsvig, Sleeping Beauty: Jen Bechter, Hua Mulan/Pocahontas/Princess Badroulbadour: Lulu Picart, Belle/The Little Mermaid/Rapunzel: Alison Burns, The Princess Who Kissed the Frog: Soara-Joye Ross
